MFI

At IFG Cresco, the Melt Flow Index can be determined and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) can be performed.

The melt flow index (MFI) is a measure of the ease of flow of the melt of a thermoplastic polymer. MFI is an indirect measure of molecular weight, with high melt flow rate corresponding to low molecular weight.

DSC is used widely for examining polymeric materials to determine their thermal transitions. Important thermal transitions include the glass transition temperature (Tg), crystallization temperature (Tc), and melting temperature (Tm). The observed thermal transitions can be utilized to compare materials.
